Of all that we offer at El's Cards, one of our signature items, the hand painted seating chart is my very favorite. Each one of these beautiful (and practical) items is totally unique. The names of your wedding guests are lettered by hand in calligraphy, then The entire piece is painted by hand. At the end of the day, you take this work of art home to enjoy for your lifetime together. Leah Grace came to meet with me about creating one of these special pieces in January of 2015. It was my pleasure to create this artwork just for this great couple! Painting flowers is my favorite thing...add some bees, a honey jar, and gold calligraphy, and this piece is one of my favorites of all time! All of the tables were named after the couple's favorite restaurants. I love when our couples use Creative Table Names! Not to mention the bride was a sweetheart!
Leah Grace's mom reached out to me to create a Kentucky Derby themed shower invitation and I was happy to create these special invitations for Leah's shower! Her mom had the idea to have paintings of hats (and bees of course) on the invitation. I painted some special hats and florals with bees especially for this item. The floral envelopes were addressed by hand in calligraphy. Leah also had me address her wedding invitation envelopes.
It's always a beautiful touch when the wedding day paper goods are created in a harmonious way. So I was thrilled to be able to create all of Leah's paper accents. We did a program fan (yes! perfect for a hot July day!) that featured some of the flowers and bees from Leah's shower invitation. She asked me to do special favor tags to be tied on the honey stick favors. The tag featured an Emily Dickinson poem, bees, and clover. The artwork on each of the table names was taken from the seating chart, and we mixed in 3 different designs for variety and a pop of color on the tables.
The last special item to be painted for Leah and Scott's wedding was the watercolor Boston skyline to be used as a sign in board for the guests! Shortly after getting married, the couple was moving to San Francisco, so this created a great memory of a place where they had enjoyed many happy years together.
