Special Custom Details for a Cape Cod Wedding
We started working together on Save the Dates in (do you believe....?!) 2019! Thank you for the lovely review, Sarah! We had so many conversations over this time period, we really got to know each other well.
I had the pleasure of working with El the past couple of years. Our original wedding was scheduled for August 29, 2020, but like most things at that time, it was postponed. El handled it like a true professional and gave me multiple options of ways in which we could send out postponements. I thought a piece that included our French bulldog would be perfect; that way I could use it again for the wedding day.
Her promptness, attention to detail, and not to mention, her lovely, positive attitude made what would normally be a very stressful experience, painless. El and her husband, Bob, make an excellent team. I hope to use El again and again in the future because her creative, beautiful, high-quality additions really MADE our wedding day!
It all started with the Cape Cod map save the date in October of 2019! I met Sarah and her family at my home studio to talk about invitations and all the wedding day items. Little did we know that a pandemic was around the corner!
Fast forward to May of 2020 and we were working on a postponement card featuring sweet Lilly, Sarah and Doug's French Bulldog! Like Sarah mentioned, we were able to include Lilly on so many wedding day items, including stamps that we ordered in a panic the week before they stopped doing custom stamps in June of 2020! Sarah took it all in stride though, and we stayed in touch through the rest of the year....not knowing how things would shake out in 2021.
I'm happy to report that (as you can see) the wedding happened and it was a gorgeous day and event! At our first meeting, we had talked about the idea of a Sea Glass invitation-and I was happy to make that happen. We also added some custom touches of the venue with a special painting of Ocean Edge throughout the wedding-on part of the invitation, and on a sign in board featuring Cape Cod. This form of a guest book is always a great choice!
At that initial meeting, we also had talked about our Beach Hydrangea design as a possible invitation. This design was actually used by Sarah's Aunt Amy (we have worked together many times on on weddings in her family!!), for Sarah's shower invitation. Amy was also there with Sarah's mom and a couple of the bridesmaids on the day we first met. It was a full house (pre-covid of course!) I love it when we can pull designs from different suites together for different parts of the wedding. It's all harmonious but not exactly the same.
Fun details on the wedding day were abundant! The guests were welcomed by the Sea Glass seating chart, and table numbers and menus also featured this design. Lilly was joined by her cousin Freddy-Sarah's parent's French Bulldog who I painted as a surprise for the bride to give as a special gift. Two of the drinks were named for these furry friends and we did accompanying signage AND custom napkins for the reception! Sarah selected our barn wood frames for all the signage displays because they had a driftwood feel to them.
I don't mind telling you that I do feel like a special bond was created with our couples who were supposed to be married in 2020, and then it was postponed. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Sarah and meeting her family through the process! Sarah's Mom, Deb, and Dad and Aunt Amy all ordered holiday cards from us in 2020 and we are so appreciative when people order from us for occasions after (or in this case-during)-the wedding process! 2020 was a difficult year for so many people, so it is a great feeling to see how after all the planning and preparing, it all works out beautifully.
Thank you so much Sarah for being a delight every step of the way. Bob and I wish both you and Doug so much happiness and look forward to working together for special occasions in the future!
